ATM has supported the District in a range of inlet management services including engineering, permitting, and construction efforts including the re-design (expansion), permitting, and maintenance dredging of the inlet sand trap. This project included the maintenance dredging of the sand trap and the expansion of the trap to increase both the efficiency and capacity of the structure. Beach compatible sand was placed on the downdrift beaches. In addition to the sand trap excavation, the permitting effort addressed potential direct and secondary impacts to nearshore hardbottom.
We have supported the District in consultation with state and federal regulatory agencies regarding extensive nearshore hardbottom and seagrass resources near the inlet, and is conducting both physical and biological monitoring of the inlet and adjacent beaches.
