ATM conducted a comprehensive design and permitting effort in support of the Bimini Inlet Dredging Project. ATM performed an Environmental Impact Assessment for the project to obtain project approval.
Chronic sedimentation of the channel into North Bimini had reduced the navigability of the channel and had a profound impact on the economy of the region. In addition to the design of an improved navigation channel, the inlet-dredging project included determination of the optimum plan for placement of the dredge disposal: sand dredged from the project will be used for the renourishment of North Bimini beach.
A series of four rock groins would also be designed and constructed to retain a minimal beach planform.
ATM is providing construction oversight through constant communication and scheduled site visits with the contractor to monitor progress and address field condition changes. The project is expected to be completed in April 2006.
