Charleston, S.C. – Applied
Technology & Management, Inc. recently started construction on the
Debordieu Beach Nourishment Project, which involves the placement of
approximately 600,000 cubic yards of sand along approximately 8,000 feet
of beach at Debidue Island, S.C. The dredging contractor is Weeks
Marine, Inc. out of Covington, Louisiana.
This is the first private beach nourishment in S.C. to use a hopper
dredge according to the USACE. ATM is using an offshore borrow site
approximately three miles from the shoreline.
The project will be completed in April. Total construction cost is
approximately $5.3 million.
