Project Summary:

The Beaufort Jasper Water and Sewer Authority (BJWSA) provides wastewater collection, treatment and disposal services to a large area of Beaufort County, SC including the City of Beaufort. ATM was asked by BJWSA to prepare a detailed report that outlined the current and future wastewater needs, existing wastewater collection, transportation and treatment systems. In addition, ATM developed alternatives for consolidation of existing wastewater treatment plants on Southern Port Royal Island.

The five wastewater treatment plants are not capable of meeting the growing needs of the area. ATM worked with BJWSA and others to develop various alternatives for consolidation of wastewater treatment and possible elimination of existing septic tank systems.

ATM is currently working with the BJWSA to study existing river systems in the Beaufort area to determine locations for environmentally sound future discharge of highly treated wastewater effluent, produced by a consolidated wastewater system.
