Project Summary
ATM was retained by West End Resorts, Ltd., to assist in the preparation
of a feasibility and marketing analysis for a redesign of the existing
Jack Tar Resort on Grand Bahama Island, which had been closed and abandoned
since 1989.
ATM's proposal called for the complete reconstruction and transformation
of the marina and commercial harbor into one unified recreational
facility with a single entrance. ATM prepared an Environmental Impact
Assessment which included design of the 150-slip marina as well as
water distribution, wastewater collection, roadways, parking facilities
and storm drainage for the 175-room hotel, shops, customs house,
restaurant, and the residential components of the project, Pine Island
and The Isles at Old Bahama Bay. ATM also was responsible for all
project permitting through the appropriate Bahamian governmental
agencies. The first phase of the marina was completed in April, 1999.
ATM’s experience in the Bahamas during this and other similar
projects positioned the firm as a leader in marina, coastal, and environmental
consulting and support for development projects for the Bahamian
government.
