Project Summary

A critical component to the aesthetic appeal of Amanyara was realizing the architect's desire for over 20 acres of reflection ponds scattered throughout the resort. Site conditions dictated that these ponds were to be shallow and lined with water levels maintained via brackish groundwater. To meet these challenges, ATM engineers utilized GIS-based three-dimensional water quality and hydraulic models simulating the long-term operational characteristics of each pond. These efforts resulted in the design of unique circulation, level control, and drainage systems for each pond to maintain aesthetically pleasing conditions.

ATM provided comprehensive environmental and engineering support services to obtain government approval of the proposed design. As part of this work, ATM engineers and biologists conducted an ecological assessment of the project site to support the development of an Environmental Impact Assessment. This work entailed a analysis of the entire project, including a terrestrial ecological survey, analysis of the proposed infrastructure design, etc.

ATM engineers also developed a series of environmental management plans to be followed during the construction and subsequent operation of Amanyara, including a pond management plan.
